Workshop: Advanced Communication Skills
Effective communication is an essential component of professional success. The better you understand your own personal communication style and how it impacts others, the greater your chance of articulating your organisation’s strategic vision, inspiring high performance and creating positive working relationships based on vibrant interaction and active listening.
Building effective communication skills becomes even more important in today’s rapidly changing business landscape, where technological disruption is leading to increased volatility and uncertainty, and ultimately to conflict scenarios. Communication that fosters meaningful collaboration, interaction and engagement is therefore a must-have skill for lawyers in all sectors and from all backgrounds.
Udbytte: Advanced Communication Skills is designed to help participants improve their impact, performance and effectiveness as communicators, particularly in conflict situations. The aim is to equip delegates with the tools, techniques and skills needed to build their communication capacity at all levels, enabling them to become a communicator who connects and resonates with any stakeholder, and especially clients.
- Learn how to communicate with intention
- Consider how communications break down and how to avoid it happening
- Understand the significance of building rapport by using active listening techniques
- Synchronise your verbal and non-verbal communication style
- Consider the significance of emotions when dealing with others
- Develop an understanding of underlying psychological drivers and how to harness these to influence others
- Learn how to deal with difficult situations and conversations
The workshop is designed to be highly interactive, using a mix of case studies, exercises, self-assessment questionnaires, videos, presentations and group discussions to develop the subject around participants’ own experiences and needs. It presents an opportunity for delegates to practice the skills taught using a variety of hands-on communication exercises that stress participation and that reinforce and build on the comprehensive course materials.
